Abstract

The concept of servant leadership and its implications pervade the contemporary world. This article explores servant leadership
in the context of 1 Kings 11-12 and its relation to the contemporary leadership of the Asantes in Ghana. The study points out that service is perceptibly the heart of leadership, and true service to God comes with a reward. Service in leadership finds its climax in solving human dissatisfaction, as in the case of the people of Israel and among the Asantes. The one who serves God and His people faithfully and diligently in the local setting will be rewarded, and the people will come to serve him or her in turn.
