Abstract

Institutions of higher education (IHL) have several educational requirements that depend on educational leadership to provide instructional supervision for stakeholders’ satisfaction. Based on this, this research looks at the impact of educational leadership on
instructional supervision at IHL in Fiji. This research was a causal research design. It investigated the correlational effect of educational leadership on instructional supervision in Fijian IHL. 342 teaching faculty and educational leaders from IHL in Fiji were the study population and the researchers used a Raosoft sample size calculator to determine a sample of 61 at a 99 confidence level. A self-constructed instrument with Cronbach Alpha of Educational Leadership .710 and Instructional Supervision .751 was used to measure reliability. The study established that a highly significant relationship exists between educational leadership and instructional supervision. Thus, improving instructional supervision in IHL in Fiji depends on educational leadership. Again, educational leadership that undermines instructional supervision is likely to be ineffective because it damages the commitment of academics and affects the quality of graduates from IHL.
