Abstract

This paper examines breakaway movements in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fiji, focusing on the Eleventh-Hour Ministry (EHM). The EHM began in the early 1980s and has challenged church unity in the Trans-Pacific Union Mission by promoting different doctrines. The EHM is known for its emphasis on health reform and unique interpretations of Scripture, making it a critical case study of theological divergence in Fiji. The study traces the EHM’s history, outlines its key teachings, and reviews its departures from traditional Adventist beliefs. It pays special attention to dietary laws and vegetarianism. Instead of just critiquing, the paper offers a constructive biblical response based on sound hermeneutical principles and balanced theology. It calls for faithfulness to Scripture and clear doctrinal teaching. It also advocates for a pastoral approach that engages dissenting groups with conviction and compassion. The goal is restoration while protecting the mission and message of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
