Abstract

Through linguistic analysis, this article argues that Isa 55 proclaim YHWH’s missional call that bids the spiritually starving to come to Him. YHWH assures of having an everlasting covenant with them, according to His love for David. As a reward for adhering to YHWH’s words, the nation is informed that they are also beneficiaries of God’s covenant with David. YHWH’s redemptive mission looks beyond Israel to include the heathen nations in His kingdom. As a response to YHWH’s invitation, nations that do not have a relationship with God will know that YHWH is God. The people of the nations will come running to pay homage to Him, leading to a congregation of the nations and Israel in Jerusalem.
